NEIBH helps individuals and families achieve recovery and quality of life

NEIBH offers mental health and addiction recovery services

Even the strongest people need help sometimes.
In today’s world, individuals and families face a growing number of challenges-- troubled relationships, blended families, grief, parenting children and adolescents, substance use disorders, domestic abuse, or identity concerns. For some, mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder, may require professional help.

Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health (NEIBH) offers both immediate crisis counseling and ongoing individual and group counseling for any mental health or substance abuse issue. Our services, offered at six convenient locations, are provided with priority to northeast Iowa residents. Accommodations are provided to those with disabilities or other barriers.

For immediate telephone crisis counseling, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, please call NEIBH at 563-382-3649, 319-283-5774, or toll-free 800-400-8923, or hearing/speech impaired, call 711 or 800-735-2942.

All services are provided by licensed therapists and are available in English and Spanish.

Suicide Awareness & Prevention

At Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health, we have been offering a program called QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer), which has been shown to reduce the incidence of suicide in communities where the program is implemented.  We are offering six opportunities to attend this one-hour presentation, which will train the attendees in QPR, allowing them to become familiar with signs of suicide intent, and to intervene in an effective way.
The initial presentations will be held at Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health, 905 Montgomery St, in Decorah. Dates and times for this training are below:
Monday, June 1st 4:00 pm
Thursday, June 4th 7:00 pm
Monday, June 8th 7:00 pm
Thursday, June 11th 4:00 pm
Monday, June 15th 4:00 pm
Thursday, Jun 18th 7:00 pm
The presentation is free of charge, and it will be followed by discussion.  Space in each presentation is limited, so please register at 563-382-3649.

NEIBH implements an Integrated Health Home

The focus of Integrated Health Home is integrating medical and behavioral care, as well as social support needs, with the intention of improving health through better coordination, communication, resource access, health and wellness education and activities. The Integrated Health Team at Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health will help coordinate a lot of your services and make sure you get the services you need. Benefits of joining include:

  • A peer who knows what it is like to walk in your shoes. Peer support specialists are people who have dealt with life experiences and have been trained to offer peer support. They may work with people alone or in groups. They understand emotional, social, and community needs.
  • A nurse who can assist you in getting or staying healthy.
  • A care coordinator who can work with you to get the services and supports you need.
